Powell heads US delegation to view tsunami damage

Secretary of State Colin Powell is leading a delegation today to South Asia for a first-hand look at the damage done by last weekend’s tsunami.

Florida Governor Jeb Bush, who has experience dealing with severe hurricane damage, is joining Powell on the trip as are a team of experts.

Their itinerary wasn’t finalized as of yesterday, but President Bush wants them to meet with regional leaders and international organizations.

He then wants them to report back to him about what else the US can do to help.

However the State Department says it’ll be careful to make sure the delegation doesn’t get in the way of the ongoing relief efforts.
