WDCS are very concerned to learn that the US Navy has been granted exemption by the Pentagon from a major piece of environmental legislation which protects marine mammals – for the next two years.
It will continue its use of high intensity mid-frequency sonar in training exercises off the California coast and other important whale and dolphin habitats, within the US and globally.
