CO2 Emissions Rise Faster

Atmospheric carbon dioxide levels are rising 35 percent faster than expected, say British climate scientists in a new Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences study.

About half of that rate can be attributed to increased fossil fuel use; the rest results from the declining efficiency of natural CO2 sinks on land and in the oceans.

Why the declining efficiency? Because climate change is shifting wind patterns in southern oceans and causing plant-withering droughts.
