Mexico to host whale shark festival in July

Isla Mujeres, five miles off the coast of Cancun in Mexico, will host a five day Whale Shark Festival in July to help promote ecotourism on the island and raise funds for marine conservation projects.

Activities at the festival, which will take place from 15-19 July, will include diving and snorkeling tours of the local reefs; beach clean-ups; trips to the nearby Contoy Island National Park, and swimming with whale sharks, the largest fish in the world and an endangered species.
