Whales meet again

Diver Andrew Armour pats a 32ft sperm whale he has formed an amazing bond with over ten years.

The male mammal dubbed Scar was just a calf when Andrew, 45, and wife Rhona first encountered him.

The whale whisperer recalled: “His head and dorsal fin were injured and he came to our boat, perhaps seeking comfort.

The most we could do was pet him and his injuries left him with some scarring.

“From then on he would approach us whenever he saw our boat. We could even call him over. He recognises me when I am swimming.

“I feel like he even knows my voice. I can get very close with him because we trust each other.”

Underwater photographers Eric Cheng, 34, and Tony Wu, 42, snapped Andrew with Scar and other whales off the Caribbean island of Dominica.
