Dropped down a vertical wall that fell to 60-70m. Wall encrusted with corals and huge gorgonia sea fans (nut no pygmies!), big moray, lion fish and nudbranchs. A big napoleon wrasse cruised out in the blue at about 35m. Big crocodile fish, pink scorpion fish and juvenile lion fish. Tuna and barracuda joined us out in the blue. Wonderful dive!

Dropped onto a a ‘coral bowl’ dive site with a centre sandy bottom. Garden eels in sand with a single anenome in the middle with a harlequin crab. Schools of beautiful and playful batfish (but with parasites on their faces). Crocodile fish, nudibranchs, saddleback anenome with clownfish eating bubbles! Pyjama cardinal fish, spine cheeked anenome fish, floured and spotfin lionfish.

Dive site in general area good shore diving all around Kaikoura, look for storage garage and ramp.

Shore dive kaikoura side of last tunnel great system of reefs all around. Swim out to about 300m to where the rocks are and start dive there.

3 wobbegong sharks, lots of rays, wrasse, morwongs

observed 5 octopus, two were large (about 35 lbs.)

Jumped off back of dive boat and finned S/E to pinnacles. Finned around lovely corals and coral heads with fusion of Anthias. 2 big lionfish; bannerfish and other reef fish. Finned back to main reef and found huge green turtle with 2 remoreas and stonefish on move. Flounder, black sturgeon fish feeding on coral. Lovely topography. Finished dive under boat. Lovely dive!

Great diving for crays they are big as well.

1 x 3m Nurse Shark (Ginglymostoma cirratum), 2 x other sharks, 1-2m in length. Sharks appeared in response to the cleaning of fish caught earlier in the day.
